About WAPP

WAPP is a professional theater company using actors from all over the St Louis metro region in a collaborative urban theater experience.  Artistic director Todd Schaefer has been fortunate to work with many talented actors in St Louis over the last six years, and now he's tapping into that sometimes underused resource throughout the metro area, giving local actors a chance to take control of projects, to explore their talents, to shine in ways they never have before.

WAPP is looking for one-man and one-woman scripts that fit some of the best of the actors currently working in St. Louis, providing a "missing link" in St. Louis theatre.  The one-actor show is something St. Louis rarely sees, and Schaefer feels that it is essential in a well rounded theatre community, both for the development and expression of local actors and also for the full exploration of theatre by local audiences.  WAPP also draws upon the talents of local directors and designers.

WAPP also creates original works of theatre -- “devised works.” There's no way to classify, label, or define such work before its creation, other than to say each piece will be beautiful, weird, and fun.  Expect only the unexpected.

WAPP also produces concerts at the Sheldon Concert Hall, with a significant portion of the proceeds going to Washington University's Parkinson’s Research Department.  WAPP will be slightly Nomadic in the beginning.  There is talk of black box theaters being created in several places around the metro St Louis area over the next several years, so we’ll see where we land.  WAPP has a place here in the city, and we know what we will be embarking upon is necessary and exciting for our community.

E-mail WAPP and let us know what you think.
