SO TO SPEAK
Join
WAPP for a brand new, group-created play, SO TO SPEAK,
examining life, community, the constant pursuit of happiness
and a companion to share it with. SO TO SPEAK
is a surreal and often hilarious journey into the joys and
struggles people find along life’s great drive in
bumper-to-bumper traffic. Work on the piece began with a
quote by Alvin Toffler: “Future shock is the shattering
stress and disorientation that we induce in individuals by
subjecting them to too much change in too short a time.”
Our modern world continues to feed the fire of change and
it's now become a houseguest that won’t leave. Living in
and among this modern condition of “future shock” we
subject ourselves to the effects of an over abundance of
daily stimuli in our lives. So how do we cope?
You don't have to travel to Edinburgh’s famed Fringe Festival to get your fix of exciting, alternative theatre -- you can experience fringe theatre right here in downtown St. Louis. The ArtLoft Theatre will host this exciting world premiere theatrical happening, inspired by the electric energy of 1960’s experimental groups like Café La MaMa, The Open Theatre, The Living Theatre, and current experimental groups like P.S.122 in New York. The WAPP ensemble of actors, writers, designers, musicians, and directors developed this thought provoking piece through a uniquely collaborative experience. WAPP’s world premiere presentation of SO TO SPEAK runs at the ArtLoft Theatre, 1529 Washington Ave. Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, February 3 through February 12, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 (cash or check only), can be purchased at the door, or by calling 314-412-5107. |
